Peggy McCardle, Ph.D., M.P.H., is President/Consultant, Peggy McCardle Consulting, LLC, and an affiliated research scientist at Haskins Laboratories in New Haven, CT. A former Branch Chief at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), US National Institutes of Health, she developed and directed the research program in Language, Bilingualism, and Biliteracy and various literacy and child development initiatives. McCardle is a linguist, former speech-language pathologist, former university faculty, and currently works as a private consultant, science writer, and editor (including volume and thematic journal issue design and implementation). Her publications address various aspects of public health and developmental psycholinguistics. She is currently involved in various projects related to literacy, English language learners, and national and global issues related to early childhood, education and learning difficulties, and human-animal interaction.
