Research Interests

I use neuroimaging to study the cognitive neuroscience of reading and language in numerous populations, with a special focus on child development. The goals of my research are to characterize the brain networks that underlie different skills such as reading and attentional control, and to gain a greater understanding of the genetic and environmental factors that shape these networks during development. I am also interested in how the brain works to process speech and print in monolingual and bilingual speakers of different languages such as Mandarin Chinese, English, and Spanish. My work has been supported by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
