The Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering is a non-profit institution patterned after the National Academy of Sciences. It was established in 1976 by Special Act of the Connecticut General Assembly. The Academy’s main objectives are to provide information and advice on science and technology to the government, industry and people of Connecticut and to encourage youth’s interest in science, engineering, and technology. A Council, elected by the membership, governs the activities of the Academy.

Members provide public service to assist the Academy in fulfilling its mission and also donate to the Academy’s Endowment Fund. The purpose of the Fund is to enhance the Academy’s mission, especially relative to informing the public and engaging youth in science and technology. Urban STEM interest and career stimulation is the initial focal point for use of the Endowment.
