Arthur Abramson passes away

Our long-time friend and colleague, Arthur Abramson passed away in December, 2017.  Arthur was a Professor Emeritus of Linguistics at the University of Connecticut, where he was the founding chair. He has been a part of the research staff in multiple capacities at Haskins Laboratories since 1959, most recently Emeritus Senior Scientist and member of the Board of Directors. His research and scholarly contributions to experimental phonetics, the production and perception of speech, laryngeal control in consonants, and Southeast Asian languages are well known internationally. Arthur was a critical thinker, and exceptional colleague and mentor and a true gentleman. He will be sorely missed.

An event memorializing Arthur’s long career is planned for Spring 2018.  Persons wishing information about this should contact the Laboratories.
